My sister found this today google image searching for something else.  She left it open for me on my computer so it would be the first thing I saw when I came home from work.  Fifteen minutes later, I'm still laughing at it.

My face hurts.

I need everyone to keep their fingers crossed today!  Actually, I don't want that to read as some ambiguous "think good thoughts" thing, so at some point during the day, for me, just, like, literally and actually cross your fingers.  Anytime.  At lunch, after you've brushed your teeth, as you're letting the dog out, whatever, just...cross your fingers.

I'm not saying why!  Just do it!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] sonneta, you still have a prompt/request to give me, should you choose, from your amazing comments on my screenwriting thingy.  Drop something here!

Greetings!

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] naushika and [livejournal.com profile] beyondthepen for the gifts!  Y'all are dolls.

I've made a few new friends recently (go Sidekicks!), so I thought it might be a good idea, as I've seen a few others do, to have a kind of "introduction" post.  I figure even for folks who I've known for awhile, there might be some new info under here, too.  And of course I want to know more about you, too!

How do? )

Two hours after my previous post, I finally get around to clicking a link my sister sent me earlier today - animals being cute!  Here's the first vid:

So I just started this new Pride and Prejudice book and it's...okay.  I'd read another trilogy that was much better, the events of the book from Darcy's perspective; still, this one has sex so that's fun.  But it kind of got me thinking about this whole genre of books, which is basically just published fanfiction.  Some of them even start out as fanfic posted online.

What it made me think about is that I obviously just need to write some Austen novel-length fanfic.  Except when I think on it, all that comes to me is some weird AU Marianne Dashwood/Severus Snape thing and that doesn't even make sense.  But if I had the time, I think I'd write something along those lines anyway, because I am coming up with the most cracked-out wonderful ideas.

That's...the extent of this post.  Who else am I going to talk about wanting to write a Sense and Sensibility/Harry Potter crossover if not with you guys?

Spam party post anyone?

Happy first day of the tournament!  Those of you new to me during the month of March will be learning that the tournament is more important than pretty much anything else.  The fact that I am working today and tomorrow - days when historically I sit in front of the TV and watch all the games while a thick mist made up of rainbows and unicorns forms around me - has been difficult to bear, but I think I will prevail.  If nothing else, I will have an ESPN.com window open to at least keep track of the scores.

Last night was difficult.  Was vaguely and inexplicably nauseated, kept waking up.  The front part of my brain scolded the back part of my brain in the form of a very strict British butler.  "No, we shall not throw up.  Mustn't do it.  Just buck up and get the work done."  I sat at my computer from about 2am to 4am, playing games and reading tumblr and occasionally staring manfully into the distance, and I think I'm okay now.  I've always been a fan of fake it till you make it anyway, so I'm perhaps overcompensating and actually sang "hellooooooooo!" to someone when I walked into work, but that's just sorta how we roll around here so it was okay.

Also, took a shower and climbed into bed with a wet head last night, but instead of waking up with a Delenn-style bad hair day, I woke up and had one of these kinds of mornings:

Sadly, I am still not yet Gates McFadden.  BUT I WILL BE.  ONE DAY, I WILL BE.

It's time for another one.  I will begin with this amazing face that my youngest sister has started making.  Like many things, she did it once, I laughed forever, so now she's going to do it at every opportunity.  But it's so awesome, I can't begrudge her doing it.  I think she asked me to buy her a sub and I told her no, and this was the result:

Came home late from writer's group last night; took a shower and was too tired/lazy to dry my hair.  So I went to bed with a wet head, and this is a fairly good representation of my morning:

I eventually worked it out, though.  Had a cromulent breakfast of pancakes and strawberry jam, got my morning work done very early, and it's a nice day today.  I'm hopeful to finish editing my screenplay in the next day or two so I can finally begin the second draft.  Things are going well!

I am having one of those sad days where I'm just, like, really looking forward to lunch.  Leftover fried chicken and mashed potatoes yayyyyyyy.

[livejournal.com profile] nhpw and I have been chatting this morning about the Porn Battle, and what we would write for it, and what prompts there are.  This led to the following conversation:

I'm doing my daily celeb/movie gossip internet round-up when I come across a photo of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angelina Jolie from the Golden Globes.  It should have been a classy photo of two classy, beautiful actresses (I'm an Angelina stan - deal with it).  But instead, Michael Douglas did something wonderful.

He photobombed it.

And let me tell you: I love photobombs.  They're just about my favorite.  I have a folder on my external hard drive that is just for photobombs.  I have decided to share some of them with you.

This has always been my favorite way to sum up the year, mostly because it has a sort of Zen quality to me.  Here are the first sentences of the first blog posts of each month.  (I'm skipping meme posts, which are generally my new media posts, and only posting actual post-posts.)

January: CHRIIIIIISTOOOOOOPH.
February: Oscar nomination predictions!
March: An open letter to Sherron Collins (who is egotistical enough to google himself and therefore might read this):
April: You know the saying, "April showers bring May flowers"? Kansas takes it seriously.
May: I love TV memes!
June: So, I was reading a Fringe thread at TWOP, and someone posted a Babylon 5 spoiler right in the middle of a comment.
July: YEAH. THAT HAPPENED. I've been mentally preparing a "Babylon 5 is the Greatest Television Show in the History of the World" post for about two weeks now, but we'll see whether I end up going through with it, especially considering how behind I am on the TV meme (why do these things matter).
August: Writing, writing, all the time, but not a thing I can sell.  Whee!
September: I am a finalist!
October: Yesterday was biz-zay.
November: So I finally, officially start work on the 16th.
December: I have more written than this, but I'm in the middle of a scene and I don't want to put up just the first half.

That just about covers it, I think.

Fringe!

Fringe tonight!  Fringe tonight!  Olivia's back on Fringe tonight!

I'm probably more excited for tonight's episode than I was for the premiere.

It's that time of the year again!  I'll be getting ready to send out Christmas cards soon, which means that I need your address!  Obviously only if you want a Christmas card from me; if you don't, then just...don't reply, LOL.  (If you don't celebrate Christmas, let me know which holiday you celebrate!  If you don't celebrate a holiday, let me know so I can send you some booze.)

And if you've already given me your address, you could totally reply with it anyway because it would probably be good for me to have everything in one place.  I am not remarkably organized.

Comments are screened, of course, so I will be the only perv person to see.

For [livejournal.com profile] scifiland's video challenge.  I was originally just going to do it for participation points.  Then it turned out sort of bizarrely awesome and kind of cracked me up so I was like, yeah, I'll submit it for voting, too!  Then when I went to post the link, I saw that the theme was supposed to be love.  And the theme of this...is not love.  (Unless you want to stretch and say crazy scifi stuff is love.)

So since I'm back to participation only, I can go ahead and post it.  I hope you guys find this at least five percent as funny as I do, because that should mean you'll laugh at least once.

I hope you guys enjoy these; I certainly did.  My favorite came from [livejournal.com profile] ghanimasun's words; the rest will be behind the cut.

Delenn couldn't help being excited, even though she knew the Shan'fal required prayer, meditation, and a coffee cup.  She had wanted John for a very long time, though, and tonight she was going to rotate, sing and eat him.  She knew that once he saw Lennier and her clan waiting outside her room, he would want to suspiciously laugh, but Delenn was reasonably confident that her stuffed bears would keep him from leaving.  She lit some candles, rearranged the jackets on her floor for the fortieth time, and hoped that John wouldn't be much longer.  She was nearly ready to attack.  It was hard to believe that nothing had happened between them by now - they had been engaged for 400 months, after all.  There had been that time a few weeks ago, when she'd nearly let him open her, but she was glad they waited.  There, the bell.  He was here.  "OH BOY!" she answered.
