Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] naushika and [livejournal.com profile] beyondthepen for the gifts!  Y'all are dolls.

I've made a few new friends recently (go Sidekicks!), so I thought it might be a good idea, as I've seen a few others do, to have a kind of "introduction" post.  I figure even for folks who I've known for awhile, there might be some new info under here, too.  And of course I want to know more about you, too!

Name: Shannon
Location: Kansas
Occupation: I work in a library, though my dream one day is to make a living as a screenwriter.  I'd be happy teaching screenwriting at the university level, too.
Alma Maters: Undergrad at USC in film production; grad at UT in screenwriting.
Fun Fact: I ate graham crackers and milk for breakfast this morning.

Favorite Movie: Young Frankenstein
Favorite Band: Gogol Bordello
Favorite Classical Composer: Chopin
Best Flavor of Ice Cream: Cookies and Cream (this is not just a preference, but an empirical fact)

First Ship: True story - my first two real ships were simultaneous.  Scrooge McDuck and Goldie from Duck Tales, and Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda animated series.  I would have like actual conniptions in kindergarten over these cartoons.
Other Ships: Mulder/Scully, Buffy/Spike, Crusher/Picard, Roslin/Adama, Olivia/Peter, John/Delenn

Shows I Will Yell At You To Watch If  You Haven't Already: Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Deadwood

Cool Story Bro: The most embarrassed I've ever been in my life was when I was about seven years old.  We were at this mall that had a fountain with "hot-air balloons" which ran on wires from the fountain up to the ceiling.  There were wide steps that led down to the fountain for people to sit and chill on.  I was running down these steps...for something, IDK...and basically couldn't stop in time.  I ran right into the water.  When I turned around, it was like this huge amphitheater filled with people, all staring at me, all laughing.

I started crying and my parents took me home.

Pets: Two dogs - Spencer, a wheaten terrier, and Princess, a dachshund.  Three cats - Mr. Phoenix, an awesome ginger, Sasha, a sort of dumb and cross-eyed gray-and-white, and Dexter, the sweetest tabby in the world.
Siblings: I have two sisters and a brother.  My sisters and I really get along and do a lot of stuff together.  You may occasionally see my sister [livejournal.com profile] h_s_doodles reply here, but usually only in GIF form.

I'm kind of tired of thinking of stuff, so I'll call it here.  I'm always open to questions, and if you're new and you didn't recently do one of these things yourself, say hi in the comments!  (Hi!)

Hee! Glad to hear it. I think GIF wars might be one of my favorite things in the whole world.

Ooh, a library! Fun! I've often thought I'd enjoy that (even did an internship in an academic library last year), but the job market is pretty nil in my area right now.

I'm pretty sure Link and Zelda were one of my first ships too (though I never watched the series; I didn't even know about it until the internet much later, lol). Playing a Link to the Past, I could never deny their epicness. I would read and reread the handbook or whatever it's called just to see pictures of them drawn together. It was a little much.

Sister-gif-spams are awesome. My sister [livejournal.com profile] _missmargaret_ and I have a few pretty amazing posts that spanned days of gif-warring each other. :D

Hi! *waves*

I really lucked out into the library job. I had been subbing, and a writer's group started that met at the library (which has been my library all my life, so I knew quite a few people there). The head of the writer's group was the #2 at the library, and when he heard about the opening, he told me in advance and personally recommended me. I was very, very lucky. I do enjoy the job, even though I occasionally miss those days when I subbed when I would wake up and say, nope, don't feel like working today!

The animated series was always on Fridays on the Super Mario Brothers show, of all things. I would always have this intense struggle with whether I would watch SMB or the Addams Family, which were on at the same time - except for Fridays, when I knew I had to see if Link would manage to finally kiss Zelda. XD

Ahh, you're really lucky to be close to your sisters like that. I'm pretty much an only child (I have half-sisters I've never met - complicated story I don't actually know much about) and I've always been jealous of siblings who are really good friends. :)

That is an insane amount of pets!
