Happy X-Files Day!
Oct. 13th, 2016 12:18 pmMy sister and I have a list of horror movies we're watching this month (so far we've managed one, Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil), but I think tonight I want to watch a good, old-fashioned, scary X-Files episode. Any thoughts? We both already decided that we've seen "Home" too many times.
Guys, I just really love October. It's amazing how much plain happier I've been the last week or so; the colder temperatures, all the Halloween stuff, the leaves changing. I feel like I'm coming back to life.

Babylon 5 Love Month etc.
Jan. 31st, 2016 11:01 amHi all! I've been meaning to post for the last couple weeks (she said, as always), but I woke up this morning like, I know I signed up for B5 Love Month and I don't remember the day, so I better check that it's not tomorrow!
It's Wednesday, so I need to...get started...on something...
Anyway, there are still lots of open days, so if you'd like to do even a little something, please head over to Babylon 5 Love Month and sign up! I'm publicly declaring now that I am going to write a new chapter on one of my WIPs. Probably for my second day later in the month.
(And since no one's yet signed up for tomorrow, I'm mayhap going to try to put together a l'il something.)
I definitely need to post about The X-Files (!!!) revival. I planned to last week, but we were swamped at work. I'm not sure this week is going to be any better, but once you reach a certain point of chaos, and it becomes the norm, you adjust. Life, uh, finds a way, as Dr. Malcolm would say, and life for me at work is having time to write and do random fandom shit.

I'm still sort of amazed that The X-Files is actually, seriously coming back. Like, I want to travel back in time and tell teenage me that XF will still be on the air twenty years later. After being pretty worried about it during filming, hearing the positive reception the first episode got at NYCC is making me much more excited - though I'm still nowhere near the epic heights of my fandom back in the day.
And, of course, it's the fourth anniversary of the Parks and Rec episode where Tom and Donna remind us that it's the best day of the year...treat yourself! I'm going to pick up something for lunch instead of eating the dumb Lean Cuisine I brought. Treat yourself two thousand fifteen!

Meme Day 4
Feb. 10th, 2014 12:07 pmDay 4 - Favorite episode of your favorite show
It's hard for me to definitively state what my all-time favorite show is. It differs depending on what I'm watching at any particular moment; when was the last time I did a rewatch; how active I am in a particular fandom; etc. So I have instead simply chosen my all-time favorite episode of television ever, which happens to be from one of my favorite shows.

I tend to be pretty lenient with pilots; I always remember that they're not just the first episode of a show, they're also a sales pitch to the network. A pilot has to do a lot: introduce the characters, the setting, the tone, the premise, the visual aesthetic; it has to hook viewers; it has to be open enough that there are possibilities for dozens and dozens of episodes to come, but it has to be closed enough that there's some specificity there; it has to ask some questions and allowed them to remain unanswered, so the show has something to continue to explore, but not so many that you don't feel like you're going anywhere.
