The first one is one of my favorite movies. I had some friends over on Sunday to watch the second one, and I forgot that only the first third of the movie takes place in 2015, and that it's by far the worst of the three movies. Still, it's fun to see all of the imagined futurescapes. Also, baby Elijah Wood is wearing a colander on his head.
I like the first one, the second one is corny but sort of lovable in its own dumb corny way, but I have SUCH a soft spot for the third one. I think because I remember seeing it in theaters, and I was so taken with the juxtaposition of time travel and technology with the old west (which I later learned was called steampunk), but mostly? Um. The romance between Doc Brown and Clara. I was a weird kid, okay!
I have a huge soft spot for the third one, too - I actually think I saw that one first. I think we went to go see it in theaters when I was a kid. (Possibly at the summer thing one of the local theaters used to do where kids got in cheap.)
Yeah, the first one is one of my favorite movies ever. The second is not terrible, but it jumps around a lot and has a really inconsistent tone. I don't love the third one as much as the first, but it's sweet and is a single, consistent story instead of just a retcon of the first one.
Yeah, I always wondered how the movie would have been with Eric Stoltz. They said that Michael J Fox had better comedic sensibility and chemistry with Christopher Lloyd.
