I finished about 8pm on the 30th.  What with NaNo, work, and a big freelance project I finished this past weekend, I ended up taking a bit of a computer sabbatical.  (I was starting to have back pain from sitting at a computer for pretty much the entire day for two weeks, heh.)  I'm not even at my act one break point from my outline, so I'm not really sure what the structure of this novel is going to end up being, but I'm just going to keep writing and see where I end up.

Have started working on a new screenplay idea that I'm very excited about.  Doing some research first because it's a period piece, and I like to let the story itself percolate for a bit before I get started; let my subconscious mind do some of the heavy-lifting.  And then I have two screenplays from last year to revise, and maybe a new TV pilot, if I have the time.  (Hahahaha.)

Anyway, my life is terribly boring right now.  What with work, second work, and writing, my fandom presence is basically nonexistent these days.  I'm not in any active landcomms anymore, and I haven't written fic in months.  Which means this online social sphere is essentially dead.  This is something I'm very sad about, to be honest, but there's not much to be done about it.  Sometimes I think I'd like to drop the second job, but the money is very useful, especially as it's becoming clear that we're probably going to need to buy a new washing machine.  (Sigh.)  Ah well.

Huuuge congrats, that is a wonderful achievement! And that always happens to me too, 50k might get done but is not nearly enough to finish the actual story :p

Those other writing projects sound very interesting and awesome too, I wouldn't even know where to start with a period piece!

Thanks! I started working on it again today. Just keep puttering away, heh.

I've written something else set in the Victorian period (a Lizzie Borden screenplay), so I know the basics having done research then. Honestly, a book or two on the general bits is enough to get me in the right head space. But I think period stuff is fun! (That sounds wrong.) It's a challenge, yes, but in some ways it reminds me of writing SF or fantasy, the world can be so different.

Thanks!

I proof audiobooks freelance; I'm coming up on almost a year doing it now. It's not the same as having a second part-time job doing retail or fast food or something, but there are still plenty of days I'm working 12-14 hours. Even if some of that work I'm doing in my jim-jams.

CONGRATS, BB!

Don't worry about not being around; livejournal (or at least my corner of it) has reached its absolute low, so it's not like you're missing anything. Now is the perfect time for not being around. That said, please do come back. :P

Good luck with all the writing! I have absolute faith on you.

Hee, thanks! Yeah, I just miss, like, talking to people? I get along with people at work but no one's really into TV/movies, that kind of thing, so there's only so much we can talk about. Ah well.

I think I'm going to give myself the crazy goal of finishing an outline and the first act of this new screenplay by the end of the year!

That I more than understand. It's part of the reason why I'm packing it in and moving to DW--there's just nothing going on anymore. Except for you and maybe one or two other people, nobody has commented on any of my entries in weeks, perhaps months. And since I don't have anyone irl to talk about fiction of any kind with, I need my blogosphere.

I get along with people at work but no one's really into TV/movies, that kind of thing, so there's only so much we can talk about.
Like... the weather? ;)

Very good goal! All my fingers are crossed.

Thanks! It was fun - I'm lucky in that I can write at work. If not? Nooooo way.

I'm deeply impressed. *yay* for finishing your NaNoWriMo story. That's great!

Sometimes RL takes over. And then suddenly out of the blue Onlineland sucks you in again. Don't be bothered by it. It isn't worth it.

Thanks! Well, I got 50k in a month, but I'm not actually done with the story yet. Oops. I'm too long-winded, urg.

Not bothered, really, just miss everyone. I'm going to attempt to be more present if I can, though.

Congrats! Life is such a time suck, isn't it? I can't imagine two jobs, barely being able to manage one! I find period pieces both enthralling (research!) and intimidating (details!) Good luck with all and don't be a complete stranger, eh?

Thanks! I just figure I'm lucky to have two jobs and to be able to add to my savings every month; it could be very different.

My experience with screenwriting is that as long as it feels authentic, then most readers won't question it. So I research so that I feel like I have a good handle on it, then proceed with utter confidence. (Having read some deeply anachronistic and poorly researched scripts this summer, I have few worries, to be honest.)

Congratulations! And I'm sorry for copping out on reviews so early; I haven't really been interacting with LJ lately either. Good luck with your new projects!
