Are you planning to shift between two writing styles, or is the prologue's style unique to that chapter? Not that I dislike this one, but the other one is really, really cool.
Your skills in horror writing show up well here, most notably in the fact that you don't call the Outsiders zombies or reference any current pop culture that addresses them, Luke Starwalker aside. (BTW, if you want to publish that, you'll want to make sure there aren't any copyright issues.) There are some redundancies and/or grammatical issues - I think semicolons might serve you better than commas in some places - but overall, I like it.
One question: is moonshine part of zombie lore, or are you creating it?
