Squee!

[livejournal.com profile] nhpw directed me to video from the Babyon 5 Dragoncon 2009 panel.  I love talking about happy giggly actors being cute while they talk about their show and take the piss out of each other!

My thoughts on this first part: cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!  I like how they obviously really miss working on the show - you don't see that a lot with casts.  Usually, unless the show is canceled tragically early, everyone seems ready to move on by year four or five.

Hee at Bruce and Claudia having their own (apparently quite funny) conversation while Tracy's talking!  They are seriously adorbs.

God, he is STILL so EPICALLY PISSED that JMS ended the show after the fifth season.  I totally agree with him, too.  There was so much story to tell - the Telepath War and the ISA setting up shop on Minbar would be more than enough to fill out the major arcs of a season.  I'm surprised, tbh, that if TNT really wanted a sixth season that they didn't go ahead and do it without JMS; I can't believe he would have had the clout to keep them from going ahead.

Then Bruce talks about how after he finished filming Call to Arms, he sobbed in his car on the way home.  Sniff.

No deep thoughts on this part, other than it seems like once again WB was willing to do more B5 stuff and JMS was like, "Um, no."  Although I actually haven't watched Lost Tales yet, so maybe it's a good thing they called it a day?

I, um, heartily endorse any discussion about Bruce's penis.  Just sayin'.  Seriously though, I love that they all refused to sign the sexual harassment paperwork because they were afraid it would cut into their joking around with each other material.  Lord, what that set must have been like!  (I want to go to there.)  Also, Bruce talking about feeling like he really had to bring his A-game when working with Peter or Andreas is just endlessly endearing, considering that he was the star of the show.

25 Takes Boxleitner!  This is the little niblet that [livejournal.com profile] nhpw teased me with and I was like, where is this from?  Poor actors, though; I did theater in school, so I know what it's like when you get something wrong and just cannot manage to get it right, and how it gets worse and worse and you start being really self-conscious about it.  I laughed so hard when he talked about going out into the parking lot to scream, came back...and screwed it up again.  Oh, Bruce, ILU.  Then Claudia has to prompt him on her name!  God.  He is a really good storyteller though - building up to multiple punchlines and all.

Claudia is the cutest thing, OMG.  Heeeeee when she can't remember KOSH'S NAME and is trying to describe it to Bruce, and you can't really hear what she's saying, just all her hand gestures.  "The big guy in the suit."  That's totes what I'm going to call him from now on.  And then talking about how cheap the show was, so they'd have to watch some guy with a bagel in his mouth pulling Pat Tallman in a wagon for some shot - I just had to pause the video and take a break, I was laughing so hard.  I lament anything like this before the age of filming a ton of behind the scenes stuff for DVD; I would KILL to actually see some of this.  Like them ACTUALLY MAKING BANG BANG SOUNDS OUT LOUD while they shoot their fake PPGs.

I love Tracy's story about Bruce throwing up in the F-15.

Peter: "My wife always said it was typecasting, that there was a part of me that was just like Londo."
Bruce: "The six penises."

This is when I really wish that the server at my work didn't have so many stupid filters on it that I can't see pictures! Also, I am so putting this DragonCon 2009 panel on the list of things I somehow need to find the time to watch this weekend.

When I'm actually working (as opposed to this week when I worked a single day, sigh), I can't even get on the internet at all. Not even to look at my email! So at least you have that.

HAHAHAHA! I couldn't remember which part of this the sexual harassment contract discussion was in, but I knew you hadn't gotten there yet because I was like, "No, she'll totally comment on Bruce saying he has a huge penis."

Also: "Half of the fun of working on this show is the sexual harassment!"

I love Claudia. Love love love.

What was it he said? "I have an enormous penis and average-sized testicles"? CHRIST ALMIGHTY, DUDE. I'M TRYING TO BREATHE AND EXIST, HERE. Now I'm envisioning the Shan'fal and it's like that scene from Young Frankenstein where the Monster takes Elizabeth out into the woods and she sees his, well, monster for the first time. "Woof."

[identity profile] nhpw.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
What was it he said? "I have an enormous penis and average-sized testicles"?

Right. Not to be confused with Michael O'Hare, who had an average-sized penis but enormous testicles.

...

No, I prefer Bruce's arrangement. :)

HAHAHA OMG that is seriously something I didn't need to know ever. Now when I try to watch S1 I'm gonna be all side-eyeing Sinclair.

Then Claudia has to prompt him on her name! God.

I love that so much. I can't tell if he's flustered because he's still, after all these years, embarrassed about the way that happened, or if he's flustered because he was in Storytelling Mode and then all of a sudden he's like - right, who are you? Whatevs. It's so funny.

He is a really good storyteller though - building up to multiple punchlines and all.

I want him to tell me bedtime stories. Seriously. He should do like Morgan Freeman and just narrate shit.

Seriously, though, I think he likes telling stories. He's like an old soldier, sitting around talking about his glory days... *sigh*

I love Tracy's story about Bruce throwing up in the F-15.

When I first saw this video, it took me a second to put the pieces together that this is what Jerry was talking about in the S5 blooper reel when he says, "Mr. President, I just thought you should know-- you and I flew F-15s at Edmunds Airforce Base and pulled 9Gs." When Jerry said it and Bruce gives a thumbs-up, it looks like they're reflecting on it as a fond memory - but throwing up doesn't sound very cool to me! Still, I love that Tracy had the cojones to say to him, "Really? How can you tell from here he's throwing up?" LOL. You go girl.

Yes, this. Absolutely. This was so clearly just the fucking highlight of his career, you know. And what he was saying about how genre fans are unlike any other fans, and their loyalty and everything? I kind of feel the same way with actors who end up working on genre shows; the way Bruce talks about B5 is kinda the same way Edward James Olmos talks about BSG - more than just that they enjoyed it, but that it was important, and good storytelling, and changed television, &c.

When Jerry said it and Bruce gives a thumbs-up, it looks like they're reflecting on it as a fond memory - but throwing up doesn't sound very cool to me!

It probably was a fond memory even with the throwing up! Because they're boys. And Bruce seems like he's kind of a big NASA/space program fan, so it was probably one of those things that even if he'd blacked out and broken a bone and whatever, he still would have been psyched about it.

[identity profile] nhpw.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they're boys.

Amen to that. Hence the discussion about penis sizes. Girls don't start those kinds of discussions, yo.

And Bruce seems like he's kind of a big NASA/space program fan

YES. He is a geek, but he's among friends. :) He was appointed to the... something?... NASA Board of Governors? Or something equally awesome-sounding. I'ma hafta look it up. Anyway.

YES. He is a geek, but he's among friends.

Such a geek. He was so adorably cute when they were asked what they were doing now, and he was like, I'm unemployed! But...oh, I just shot a little sequel for this little movie called TRON. Heeeeee.

[identity profile] nhpw.livejournal.com 2010-10-16 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And then Peter: I did NOT just finish the sequel to TRON. LOL, poor Peter!

(Did you know he was in Tron with Bruce? I think he's not in it very long, and then he dies, which is probably the main reason he is not in the sequel.)

[identity profile] kungfuwaynewho.livejournal.com 2010-10-16 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember seeing that when I was looking through Bruce's IMDB! I haven't actually seen Tron since I was a kid, so I have absolutely no memory of it at all beyond flashy weird costumes and those bike things; I really hope that some TV station re-airs it between now and Legacy, because I am not paying 30 or 40 bucks for a copy on Amazon. (Even used! What the hell!)

[identity profile] nhpw.livejournal.com 2010-10-16 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd bet money that Disney will show it. And Disney owns, like, the entire universe, so maybe they'll put it on ABC or ABC Family (I never watch that channel. Is it still called that?) or Discovery, even. Or something. But I bet they'll show it.

$30 - 40?? SERIOUSLY? Ugh. As I mentioned once before, our plan is BluRay, but I can't even begin to think what THAT will be like.

I tend to avoid actor interviews and such because I don't like my fantasy mixing with reality, but I'm glad I watched these. Claudia is definitely adorable. And hilarious. (And still really pretty!) I'm dying to know what kind of private conversation she and Bruce were having in the second one.

I know! I think it's so, so cute how giggly and touchy-feely they still are with each other.

Bubba do love them Hawaiian shirts.

Melissa talks openly in her book about how smoking pot scrambled his brains a bit.

You wanna really laugh? Find the Babylon Podcast where they interviewed Claudia.

Claudia also has a blog. She actually watched the first four seasons and blogged about it a year or so ago.

I can't remember where I heard the story but there is a great one about Bruce, Melissa and Jerry in an exotic dancing bar in Cocoa.

For the record, all newbies puke in those planes at first. It takes a while to get used to the G-forces. Imagine dealing with that in the middle of combat. Those pilots amaze me.

Haha wow. That's so weird. I would not want to go hang with a married couple at a strip club, seriously.

My cousin's a pilot for the National Guard, and he is insanely awesome. I can't get over some of the stuff he does.
