I love how many shows find a way to do a 30s/40s back-in-time ep. There's Fringe, TNG... um... Tiny Toons..... ok, I can't think of anything else, but ST:DS9 did that back to TOS tribble episode tribute ep, which was very 60s, so that sorta counts.
I swear, there are so many shows I feel like they just sit around in the writer's room figuring out ways to shoehorn in cool shit.
The X-Files did a 40s episode, too. And there were Nazis! What I love about the Fringe episode is in addition to private eyes and the noir feel, there were also robots, and it was a musical.
