No, I'm not procrastinating, why do you ask?

There's a couple parts of every script that are hard for me to write, and one of those parts is the very first part.  I have a tough time with opening scenes, and that's what I'm working on right now.

Well, was working on, until I decided that I really needed to post.  About what?  No clue.  So here's a random list of things that are randomly popping into my mind as I type.
  • I really need to stop answering "Thank you" with "Sure thing!"
  • Hot tea is the right temperature for about eighty seconds.
  • It does no good to write out lists of upcoming due dates, goals, plans, etc. if I promptly lose said lists.
  • I really want to finish watching Caprica (I got bummed out when it was canceled and took a break), but I have, like, eleventy other shows I'm watching right now.
  • Exactly 100 word drabbles are the dickens to write.

[stares mournfully into mug of lukewarm tea] RIGHT?

I tend to make lists, then set them aside with my mind at rest, as though having put the item on a list is enough and actually getting around to doing it isn't necessary. I store most of my lists as gmail drafts, so I don't generally lose them, but that doesn't help any if I willfully ignore them. ;)

Obviously I am not procrastinating either. [hits refresh on friends page again]

See, I'll refresh my flist when I'm procrastinating or bored or I've read the whole internet, see a new post, and then go, "Oh, I can't comment yet. This post just went up. They'll think I'm a creeper that just hits F5 all day."

[identity profile] hollywobbles.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, yes, I do that too. I figured, though, that if you don't already think weird thoughts about any of my lj habits, you never will. ;)

[identity profile] hollywobbles.livejournal.com 2011-03-11 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
...And by "any of my lj habits" I am in no way referring to the way I seem to stalk your journal and over-comment on almost everything you post.

Nope.

Hee! Never change that habit - it makes me ridiculously happy when I check my email and there are numbers in parentheses next to my inbox. Even better when I'm actually on the computer and I see the little number pop up in real time!

XD

Aw, you're adorable! I love that I got a different icon for each one, too. :D

I'm not normally a list person, but I felt oddly organizational last night and jotted some things down, and damned if I know where it is. And now I have this feeling that because I wrote some things down, I told my brain it was okay to forget them, because I don't remember so well what was even on my list.

100 word drabbles are difficult! They are like poetry in that every word has to be the right one. I hate when you get to 101 or 104 and have to cut, cause you've planned out every word already. Sometimes I resort to using contractions to reduce word count, or going with independent clauses to lose an 'and'. (I got that from Nano, where you reverse the process to up word count!)

I love lists. On paper. With ticky boxes. I have three right now at work. One with lists and notes on the day's tasks, one with the week's tasks, one with long term projects.
Also made one today for the weekend, for my next B5 things-to-do, and one for bill paying.

It's sad, isn't it? But now I have to take my today list and go do something on it :)

I think one of my problems with drabbles is I find myself unconsciously writing shorter sentences as a whole; fragments and implied subjects and the like. Even when I get the word count right, they sound sort of terse.

- "Sure thing" is the best response in the world and I say it all the time and YOU SHOULD BE PROUD.
- Omg I need like some sort of mug warming thing that keeps my tea at the right temperature for longer.
- I make lists in text files on my desktop. IT HELPS.
- [no opinion]
- I hate writing drabbles, they are freaking impossible

I really need to bring my thermos to work, instead of making hot beverages in my metal mug that has no insulating properties whatsoever.

I sometimes like lists but only if I KNOW I'm going to do what's on it so I can cross things off. Lol.

And I may have two drabbles... One of which I'll try to make exactly 100 and one that's about 4 times that. Lol!

Two drabbles?! Show off. ;)

The ending of Caprica was definitely interesting and I enjoyed having watched the show. The plot continuity with BSG is bothersome, but there's some really interesting stuff in the show. I hope you like it when you get around to finishing it!

[identity profile] kungfuwaynewho.livejournal.com 2011-03-13 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly? I don't really care that much about continuity. (Bad fan, I know.) I'd rather have a good story. But the library just got Caprica so I'm gonna grab it - so much easier than downloading.

I can understand that in this case..Caprica is so far off from BSG that it's sort of hard to relate them much. But I was happier with the ending than I thought I would be, which was a nice surprise.
