Aww. Heh, my mom used to get me up in the morning when i was a kid by singing "Jack and Jill" and throwing in incorrect words, and as much as I wanted to sleep I just couldn't stand not correcting her. ;) As for reading, my dad used to reward me with Nilla Wafers or occasionally Oreos for getting through my picture books when I was first learning to read. ;)
