And I'm pretty sure XF fandom came up with "shipping," too! I have such a clear memory of when we first got internet at home, and I was reading an Entertainment Weekly cover story on XF, and they brought up fandom and fanfic and shipping, and I was like, "Oh my God, I am not alone." (LOL, I can't remember if it was that article or a TV Guide article that actually printed URLs for some fanfic sites, but I carefully copied them all down in the library and brought it home and started reading fanfic. So God bless you, whoever you were, journalist-person who thought to do that.)
