I was reading something recently, don't remember where, and it was talking about how anymore in SF, strong woman = woman who physically kicks ass. And while I like seeing that, don't get me wrong, I also appreciate female characters who are strong without necessarily having to whale on anyone. The only other character I can really think of off the top of my head who reminds me of Delenn - strong and independent, but because she's smart and resourceful, not because she beats people up - is Laura Roslin.
