John is kind of a screw-up, though. I'm trying to figure out how he's going to pull it all off, put things back together, and build a relationship with Delenn without getting himself expelled.

He is a screw-up! And, see, I didn't do an actual physical outline this time, but unlike The Bloody Ones which I outlined mostly from a plot perspective, I outlined this one (in my head) pretty much as John's character arc - taking him from a teenage boy, with raw, unpolished charisma and leadership potential, but still a teenage boy with his propensity to do stupid things, to a man. I know what happens in the last chapter, and I know three major events that happen along the way. (The rest I am winging, LOL.) And what happens at the end of next chapter is the midpoint for John.

I haven't figured out what his nadir is, though. And it's got to come directly from his actions next chapter. But I've got three or four chapters to figure that out, so I'm not worried about it at this point.
